OMARC Weather Net Activation December 16-17, 2020

Posting this on behalf of Kenny K2KRP.

Hello Everyone....Get those snow shovels, plows, throwers, gloves etc ready for Wednesday night and Thursday morning.  It's a good time to do the first of several trial runs of our new and still developing Weather Net.

For this particular storm, the Net will become active beginning at 3 pm on Wednesday, December 16th.

We will be looking for reports on the 805 repeater after that at 6 pm and 9 pm (or immediately after tonight's OMARC business meeting).

The Net will resume at 7AM on Thursday, December 17th and run every 3 hours through 7PM.

[7 am; 10 am; 1 pm; 4 pm; 7 pm; 10 pm] This is NOT a ‘rag chew net’...what we will be looking for are members, with or without weather stations, to report current conditions only.

    This includes the following:

    1. Current Conditions

    2. Temperature

    3. Barometer

    4. Wind Speed and Direction

    5. Current Snow Depth

    6. Road Conditions if your Mobile

If you do not have a weather station, then you can report on current conditions at your QTH.

This info will be recorded by the Net Operator and for now, be posted on the 835onthe805.net website.

A Net Operator will be chosen for each Weather Net activation.

A tentative schedule will be posted before noon on Wednesday.

The idea is to be clear, concise and quick.

Again...this is just the start.  There will be kinks to work out but your active participation is key to the success of the OMARC Weather Net and I thank you so much for getting us this far.

Please reach out if you have any questions and we certainly need your comments and ideas.
