A friend of mine from the model airplane club has some unique models. While we have models built with Styrofoam and plastic with small gas engines or motors powered by Li Po batteries, controlled by digital packets sent on a 2.4 GHz signal, Jessie chooses to go old school. Balsa wood and tissue paper powered by a rubber band.
This is his new and improved model. His earlier version had fixed wings and no rubber band. His propulsion method? He would chase the model with a PIZZA BOX! Much like a surf board, the plane would ride the air compression wave in front of the pizza box. He can angle the box left, right, forward and back and actually steer the plane in flight! I understand he is working on a radio upgrade.... Spark gap transmitter and Coherer receiver. He might need more than a pizza box to get it off the ground!
