Ham Radio Repeaters - Just the Facts!

Want a DMR repeater for your Amateur Radio Club?

Understanding what is involved in the 1. Acquisition; 2. Installation; 3. Annual Maintenance and 4. Annual Tower Rental Costs is only the beginning for the information gathering process for a prudent decision to be made by an Amateur Radio Non-Profit organization.

What are the Benefits of expending the funds required for the initial acquisition and the annual recurring expenses? Do you know? Are you prepared to make an informed decision? Does your club have sufficient annual revenues to guarantee you can afford a new repeater?

Licensed Amateur Radio Operator Kyle AAOZ invites us to come along with him as he takes us on a tour of a repeater cabinet that houses three repeaters:AllStar, Echolink and a command/control network for his local club.

We then head out to the roof to check on the 4 bay dipole antennas for the 70cm & 2m repeaters.

Two repeaters are Yaesu System Fusion repeaters and an old GE repeater.

Kyle's tour stimulated my thinking and raised a number of questions I need to find the answers to before I can support a new DMR repeater effort in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Thanks Kyle!

This is a great video that pretty much matches the diagram I made for my presentation. For OMARC to do DMR, we need to do it right, and that wont come cheap!
